Primary Care Vacancy: GP Assistant (GPA), St Andrews Medical Centre. Applications are invited for GP Assistant to support the GP(s) smooth running of clinics by performing the more routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of the GP freeing up their time to focus on the patient. We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, reliable people, with a good working ethos, to join our friendly team. Our purpose built practice, in the heart of Southborough community, is looking to expand the team and the services it offers to support our growing patient list. We provide a confidential & professional patient service and the successful candidates will be confident communicating with the general public via the telephone, and in person. Computer skills are essential with good skills in Microsoft Office. The ability to take direction and then work under their own initiative is essential. Ideally the successful candidate will already have had 1 years’ experience in Primary Care and hold a GP Assistant Certificate qualification - but that is not essential and specific training will be given in-house.

General Responsibilities

  • Sorting and prioritising clinical post in terms of actions.

  • Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes

  • Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms etc. GPA Competency Framework 2

  • Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies e.g. getting an on call doctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP can continue with their consultation(s) Salary: will depend upon experience and will be in the range of £11.56 per hour to £12.76 per hour. This is a permanent, full time role being 35 working hours – Monday to Friday; 9:00am to 5:00pm. Benefits:
