Preparing for your future as a nurse - online programme

Second and third-year nursing students can now access a new online learning programme called 'Preparing for your future as a nurse' on the NHS Learning Hub.

Please share these details with relevant students in your organisation. A promotional flyer is attached to help spread the message.

Health Education England’s South East RePAIR team has developed an online programme designed for second and third-year nursing students nationwide to help prepare them for the transition into employment in the NHS and increase their confidence in taking that step.

Professor Mark Radford, HEE’s Chief Nurse and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, has recently written a blog post about the programme, saying that, “I would have found this resource incredibly helpful when I was beginning my career as a nurse.”

This programme provides students with information to help them transition from being a student nurse into their first post as a registered nurse. It includes:

  • Searching and applying for your first role;

  • Interview tips;

  • What to expect when you start;

  • Support in your new profession;

  • Hear from newly registered professionals and experts.

The programme content is accessible online at any time and can fit easily around students’ university and placement requirements.

Anyone with an NHS email address or a university email address can register to use the Learning Hub. If you don’t already have an account, you can register here.
