Medstart4U Event

Students from schools in East Kent got a taste of life in healthcare this week at a taster day at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.
MedStart4U is a day long, interactive taster session on what it is like to work in medicine. Students got involved in simulated scenarios and practical sessions, including taking blood, key-hole surgery and knee aspiration. They then attended Q and A sessions with junior to fully-qualified doctors.
Students gain an insight into what it is like to be a doctor working in primary and secondary care, giving them the knowledge and skills to help decide their career paths.
The event is organised for students in years 11 and 12 who are considering applying for medical school. Specifically, those considering becoming a doctor in medicine. Events have also taken place at Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Hospital, Margate.
The Kent & Medway Primary Care Training Hub worked with EKHUFT on these events.
