Canterbury Christ Church University works alongside colleagues to continually develop opportunities for practice learning in Primary Care across a wide range of clinical programmes. As healthcare is increasingly delivered in Primary Care, we are committed to respond to changes and contribute to improved recruitment of newly qualified professionals. This will require change through increasing placements within both, Primary Care and community settings.
Changes to professional body standards and curricula have enabled further opportunities for practice learning in Primary Care across many programmes. We are able to adopt flexible approaches and open opportunities to develop practice learning in new and exciting ways. The Kent and Medway Medical School provides further opportunities as the curricula include placements in Primary Care year one and year two. Our programmes encourage interprofessional learning and to this end, we are keen that practices support all learners studying professional programmes.
Canterbury Christ Church University supports the development of practice learning with dedicated roles that support both students and practice staff. As Senior Lecturers in Practice Learning, we welcome the opportunity to discuss this further.
