Becoming a GP Educational Supervisor & course dates

Being a GP Trainer/Educational Supervisor (ES) is an enormous privilege and challenge. It means accepting personal responsibility for the development of a Doctor aspiring to be a good General Practitioner.





Criteria for becoming an Educational Supervisor:

  • must work a minimum of four clinical sessions

  • must have been a qualified GP for at least 36 months at the time of ES accreditation

  • must have worked in the current practice for at least six months to one year

  • must have attended the Clinical Supervisor course – and be accredited as a CS

  • this course will require you to reflect on the experiences you have had to date of supervising learners, you will need to be able to evidence this.

Upcoming intake for the Educational Supervisor course – January 2022


We are pleased to be recruiting for the next Educational Supervisor course and associated Postgraduate Certificate in Strategic Leadership and Multi-professional Education in Healthcare (PG Cert SLAMEH) starting in March 2022.


You will be required to register with University of Kent in January, in readiness to commence teaching in March.


The course requires six days of virtual teaching which will support your role as an Educator and provide a theoretical basis to support the three assignments as part of the PG Cert.


Integrated in to these teaching sessions are learning sets with a dedicated Academic Mentor to support your studies. The expected deadlines for these modules are as follows:

  • Supervision in the Workplace – Friday 29 April 2022

  • Evidence Informed Practice – Friday 24 June 2022

  • Collaborative and Multi-professional Working – Friday 26 August 2022.

  • Day 1 – Thursday 3 March 2022

  • Day 2 – Thursday 31 March 2022

  • Day 3 – Thursday 5 May 2022

  • Day 4 – Thursday 26 May 2022

  • Day 5 – Thursday 7 July 2022

  • Day 6 – Thursday 28 July 2022.


Please note that this will not automatically grant you a place on the course.
